The Pleasant Hill School District is forwarding this information on behalf of the Mid-America  Regional Counsel. Officials from Pleasant Hill R-III School District recently worked with other communities in Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray counties and Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) to update the Regional Hazard Mitigation for the next five years. The goal of the plan is to reduce loss of life, property, human suffering, economic disruption and disaster assistance costs from natural and man-made disasters. Pleasant Hill Schools District is one of about sixty jurisdictions, fire/ambulance districts and school districts that have completed the requirements to be classified as a participant. By participating in this plan update, Pleasant Hill School District is eligible to apply for certain funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). During the plan update process, staff identified the hazards that would have the greatest impact on our community. We also developed goals and actions to work on during the next five years to address the hazards. In the spring of this year, the five counties hosted events so that the public could learn more about the goals and actions being proposed. The plan has been submitted for approval by the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. We would like to invite our residents to review the final document and provide comment. The document can be found at the following link: www.marc.org/hmp2015

Hazard Mitigation goals and actions specific to your community can be found in Section 5 of the plan.
